Walk on a fishing pier < Back
A large number of locals were involved in commercial fishing on the Loop at the times the various piers were built around the peninsula – in Kilkee, Querrin, Carrigaholt and Kilbaha.
The piers are now a popular place for recreational fishing and places for great views. For example, at Querrin Pier, the visitor can see Scattery Island, home to a 6th century monastic site; and at Carrigaholt old pier the visitor can see the Carrigaholt Castle, one of the best preserved ‘tower houses’ in Ireland, built around 1480.
