Take a cliff walk < Back
The cliffs of the Loop Head Peninsula summon up the spirit of the Wild Atlantic Way in an incredible way. Rugged, wild and full of adventure, they mark a territory on this great touring route that is more off the beaten track than other famous tourist destinations in this area.
Autumn is the perfect time to see the true force of nature that is the ferocious Atlantic Ocean as it shapes and carves the coastline of the Cliff Coast. The Kilkee Clliff Walk is one of the most accessible circular walks on the Loop that will give you stunning views of the Kilkee Cliffs and Bay. The Irish Times has declared it in 2019 “A cliff walk more awesome than Cliffs of Moher hike”.
Start (or finish) with fresh and tasty food and coffee at the Diamond Rocks Cafe, overlooking the entire bay. If you want a more untamed stunning coastal walk, venture around the Loop Head Lighthouse, the fabulous Bridges of Ross or Kilcredaun townland. To get the best out of the these, a private guidecan show you the ways and have permission to access them (some cutting across farmland) and take you deeper into the local stories, geology, and nature of our peninsula.
