George’s Head < Back
George’s Head is the name of the headland that protrudes conspicuously into the sea on the right-hand side of Kilkee Bay, in the area known as the East End.
To get there, take the road past Kilkee Golf Club and you’ll come to the car park of Burns’ Cove. It is possible to walk along the headland here, taking you past this famous swimming cove which at one time was a nude bathing area for men. You will pass some beautiful coastal scenery as you follow the coastal path around George’s Head. Bishop’s Island and Illaunearaun are visible to the southwest and you can see Chimney Bay to the north.
The headland is privately owned so please respect the rights of property owners. Give right of way to golfers and do not enter the land if there are livestock visible. Please be careful and don’t stray too close to the cliff edge.
