Carsten Krieger is an artist in Ireland

Carsten Krieger

Carsten Krieger, who took the photographs for this website, is one of Ireland’s most acclaimed landscape photographers. He has published and contributed to seven books on Ireland’s landscape, nature and heritage. Fine art prints, posters and postcards are available from his studio gallery in Kilbaha and various outlets around the peninsula. He is also available for nature & photo walks, and day-long photography workshops.

Irish artist sculpture

Loophead Studio

Loophead Studio in Carrigaholt produces a diversity of work including film, photography, painting, soundscapes, music and pageantry. Much of the work is a response to the atmosphere, mythology and wildlife of Loop Head.

The studio has produced several animated films – screened internationally – using sand animation, object pixilation, time lapse, and puppets. A compilation DVD of the films is available for sale, as are photographic prints.

Seamus Connolly

Seamus Connolly is one of Ireland’s leading bronze sculptors, best known for his life-size portraits including that of the late actor Richard Harris as a young man, which can be seen at Kilkee’s West End.

Unusually among sculptors, Seamus casts all of his statues himself at his bronze art foundry in Kilbaha, where he also runs an annual sculpture summer school.

Maureen Glynn

Based in Dough, Kilkee, Maureen Glynn is an artist working in pen and watercolour and oil. She held solo exhibitions in 2010 and 2012.

A former teacher of art in UK mainstream and special needs schools, Maureen has been tutoring children and adults in Kilkee since 2009. She runs classes in drawing and painting, lino-cut printing, stained glass, and painting on silk.

Irish artist

Carmel Madigan

Artist Carmel Madigan grew up on Loop Head, and her work reflects those formative early influences. She paints the ocean, the rocks and the flowers, and in 2012 published The Wild Flowers of Loop Head, a collection of paintings and poetry. Carmel’s work has been collected nationally and internationally, and she has exhibited throughout Ireland. She also runs the Loop Head Summer Hedge School.
