Ireland sailing is one of the great things to do

Loop Head has it all for sailors: you can go on an unforgettable sailing trip from almost anywhere around the peninsula.

Try a trip from Kilrush to Scattery Island and on to Carrigaholt, or from Carrigaholt to the tip of the peninsula, viewing beautiful rock formations, seals, seabirds and dolphins along the way. Or sail around Kilkee Bay and view George’s Head or Bishop’s Island and Chimney Bay from a different angle.

If you’re an inexperienced sailor, you can take this chance to complete a sailing course, so that you have a qualified instructor right by your side at all times to show you the ropes.

Nevsail is a National Training Centre for the Irish Sailing Association, with courses run by ISA-qualified instructors. Both children and adult courses are provided from March until November. Opt for a two-and-a-half-hour session or a one- or two-day course geared for complete beginners and intermediate sailors.
