Dave Dakin Photographer

At Art College, in Blackpool, I studied graphic design, media and photography, which, together with a few other jobs, I have worked in throughout my life. Since coming to Ireland I have been teaching photography and running my own photographic business, ‘imagephotography’. I’ve had exhibitions of my black and white creative images in Florence, Italy, New York, Chichibu, Japan and of course Ireland. I am pleased to share my enthusiasm for photography by helping students capture their own creative images.
Photographic workshop with Dave Dakin
where: Loop Head Peninsula
when: By arrangement. 1 or 2 day courses
why: to improve your photographic skills
Lots of people can take a good photograph but few people know what to do with the images. Since the advance in digital cameras, very few people take poor quality images. My philosophy is with good planning and an understanding of your subject, light and the environment; most people can take superb photographs.
What better place to learn than Loop Head Peninsula, with it’s stunning wild seascapes, and ever changing light. Share this unique classroom with Dave Dakin, who’s been a photographic teacher for over 12 years and lives in Loop Head, Dave has been sharing his energy for this wild and wonderful environment through photography and workshops.
Why not give yourself time and energy (fun) to learn a new skill.

Michael Reeves, Painter

I have lived in the Loop Head area since 1999.
From Limerick, my love affair with West Clare goes back to childhood. The landscape is inspirational. Its dramatic elements present a painter with endless exciting subject matter. The area is in constant flux and it lends itself to abstract interpretation. The unrelenting poundings of the Atlantic are etched in fine line. The moods are various and the colours are rich and subtle.
I have two solo exhibitions and my work has appeared in several group shows. My work is widely collected.

Seamus Connolly

Seamus Connolly is one of Irelands’ leading bronze sculptors, living and working in Kilbaha in West Clare. He is most well known for his highly acclaimed real-life commissions such as that of Richard Harris as a young man in Kilkee – which was opened by Hollywood star Russell Crowe - and that of John B Keane in Listowel, Co. Kerry.

Seamus also has a fantastic reputation for his abstract pieces, most of which are inspired by animals and nature. Seamus, uniquely, brings all his pieces from inception right through to being finally cast in bronze, entirely in his own bronze foundry in Kilbaha – a process that has even been documented in the past by RTE. His exhibition proves as an exciting opportunity to see some of Connolly’s more personal pieces.
